Painted Rock Movement

The Kindness Rocks Project, created by Megan Murphy, is a national movement.  The idea is to paint inspirational messages on rocks and leave them for people to find (The Kindness Rocks Project, n.d.). Taken from The Kindness Rocks Project:

“Take one when you need one ♥ share one with a friend who needs some inspiration ♥ or leave one for another.  1 message at just the right moment can change your whole day, outlook, life” (The Kindness Rocks Project, n.d.).

I found out about this fantastic idea when I was looking at my Facebook timeline.  The two groups that caught my attention were Santee Rocks and Whidbey Island Rocks.  I reached out to a lady by the name of Barb.  I asked her question after question.  She answered question after question, fast forward a year and a half, Barb and I are good friends.  I know paint special rocks to send to Whidbey and to share the love from Winnemucca Rocks, and Reno Painted Rocks.

The project is something quite dear to my heart.  My original thought and ideas for this project were to bring it to my hometown and let the people know who genuinely need a light in their life, they are loved, and they matter.  Leaving random rocks for people to find is by far one of the greatest joys, I feel, a person can have.  Knowing that you had impacted a person’s life when they needed it most is a feeling, I cannot describe in words.

If you wish to start one of these groups to spread kindness around your community, please look up the name of your town or city followed by the word rocks.  Chances are there is already a group in place.  If there is not, the word in the rock movement is to build a group, and continue the action.  If you ever have any questions, you can email me at sarah@motivationalconnection.com, or you can find me on Facebook through Winnemucca Rocks, and Reno Painted Rocks.
